Workshop on
Chemical Engineering for Sustainable Water Treatment and Resource Recovery
We are pleased to invite you to a one-week workshop (5 ECTS) at NTNU!
What: Workshop on Chemical Engineering for Sustainable Water Treatment and Resource Recovery
Where: Lise, Sentralbygg 2, Gløshaugen, NTNU Trondheim.
When: Monday 30th November to Friday 4th December 2026
The workshop is part of the UTFORSK project Integrating Research and Education in Sustainable Chemical Engineering for Batteries and Water Treatment, coordinated by Particle Engineering Centre, Department of Chemical Engineering (IKP) in collaboration with IIT Madras (India) and NC State University (USA), and supported by the Norwegian Directorate for Higher Education and Skills (HK-dir).

To earn 5 ECTS:
You will need to join all the activities during this week
You will need to either submit a report OR attend the first day of the event, prepare 3 questions for the speakers and summarize these questions for other participants in an online meeting after the workshop.
What you will learn
• Chemical and biological water treatment: the principles and processes used to clean industrial wastewater
• Environmental engineering for the chemical industry: how to reduce emissions and manage waste and wastewater
• Materials and processes for resource recovery: how valuable materials and metals can be recovered from industrial streams
Why join?
• Earn 5 ECTS in one week
• Learn from international experts: Prof. Jan Genzer and Assoc. Prof. Kirill Efimenko (NC State University, USA) and Prof. Hanna Knuutila (NTNU) and other international speakers
• Meet students and researchers from NTNU, NC State and IIT Madras, and build an international network
• Gain skills in sustainable process design that are in demand in industry and research, including hands on experience in the labs
The workshop is open to students, PhDs and researchers in chemical engineering, chemistry, materials science, nanotechnology, civil engineering and related fields.
